Negotiations are underway to bring
King Island Christmas, the oratorio I did with
Deborah Brevoort, to the stage and to
PBS
Great Performances next Christmas.
Nicolette, the musical I wrote with Peter
Kellogg, which had a successful run at the
Westport Country Playhouse 2 summers ago, is ready
for Broadway – all we need is the bucks. B.T. McNichol
will be directing and William Ivey Long, Tony Walton and Bill
Brohn are slated to contribute their amazing talents to the
costumes, sets and orchestrations.
I'm totally excited about my
new songbook,
containing 63 of my songs completely written out for piano and
voice. It just arrived and we're selling in thru the
website and in stores around the country. I'm planning a
kickoff concert which I'll update you about as plans solidify.
I'm working on two new musicals – Desperate Measures
with Peter Kellogg, an adaptation of Shakespeare's Measure
For Measure that takes place in the Old West, and
Goodbye My Island, the sequel to
King Island Christmas with
Deborah Brevoort.
I'm also working on a book called "The Orchestra is Always
Playing What You're Showing Them – Conducting as a Metaphor For
Life" about what I've learned about life from being a
conductor.
In addition, I'm finishing up a CD of songs
Kathie Lee Gifford and I wrote together, and have
contributed a few songs to the new musical she and David
Pomerantz are doing together about the life of Aimee Semple
McPherson entitled "Hurricane Amy."
